Dear SubZero,
Sorry for the late reply. Well, welcome to Japan and I see that you've taken your stay in Tokyo atm. I'm Japanese but I've lived in Australia for about 18years of my life and I see hardly any difference between the CS trends of those two countries. As Tebasak1 mentioned earlier, working on your Japanese and improving it's fluency would provide you with not just CS communication skills, but will improve your communication with the Japanese people on the whole. Many foreigner's in Japan here actually do take active roles in the Japanese CS scene so I'm pretty sure you'll basically find no problems finding a clan. Checking up on this site once in a while might be a good idea for starters.
All the best,
John5
