『IEM Sydney 2019』は招待8チーム、各国の予選を通過した8チームを合わせた計16チームが出場。
グループステージは8チームずつに別れてのダブルエリミネーション方式トーナメントで進行され、1位がプレーオフの準決勝、2位と3位が準々決勝に進出となります。
決勝に進出したのは、 Team Liquid と Fnatic。
Team Liquidは、グループステージAをトップ通過で準々決勝に進み 
MIBRに2-0で勝利しファイナルへ。

FnaticはグループステージBを2位通過し、準々決勝で Ninjas in Pyjamasとのスウェーデン対決に2-1で勝利後、準決勝で NRG Esportsにも2-1で勝利し決勝に進出となりました。
